My future goals:

My experiences in college and, most recently, through my post-baccalaureate program have strengthened my interest in using chemistry to understand and address complex environmental challenges. During my post-baccalaureate training, I developed hands-on experience in synthetic and materials chemistry, strengthening my skills in experimental design, synthesis, characterization, troubleshooting, and interpreting chemical data. These experiences showed me how the properties of materials can be deliberately tuned to address specific problems and sparked my interest in exploring chemistry at the intersection of materials science and environmental applications. I hope to pursue a PhD that will allow me to build on this foundation while developing the expertise to investigate new materials and chemical processes with practical applications in areas such as environmental remediation, sustainable materials, or resource recovery.

Where did my interest in science originate?

Throughout my secondary years of education, I had a bad introduction to science and initially hated it. Rather than letting that deter me away from the field, I entered college with a conviction that I would change future students’ experiences.

My Current Projects:

Since graduating, I have completed a two-year post-baccalauerette program where I worked on my most recent project involving synthesizing a solid-supported oxidant. This research experience has allowed me to hone essential my synthetic techniques such characterization of synthesized products using proton nuclear magnetic resonance (HNMR) and UV-vis, and designing and purifying synthetic products via air-free chemistry techniques and column chromatography.
