Keairra’s IM•PACT

Biomedical Scientist and Chemist in the making based in Atlanta, GA

Why pursue science?

Since high school I have dreamed of pursuing a career where I could help others, contribute to saving the planet, and find answers to some of the most pressing concerns of our modern world. After I attended a Green Chemistry research seminar during my sophomore year and after getting involved in research, I discovered that a career in academia research and science communication is where I can do it all!

What’s next after graduation?

Since graduating, I have been participating in a post-baccalaureate research program and afterward, I plan to attend graduate school to earn a doctoral degree in Chemistry.

Keairra Brown (she/her)

My name is Keairra Brown (pronounced key-air-rah). I’m a recent graduate from Georgia State University (GSU) in Atlanta, Georgia where I earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Biomedical Sciences and Enterprise with a minor in Chemistry.

Why pursue Science? Why not?! It’s awesome 👏🏾💯

When I’m not studying for class or reading research publications, I love to recreate popular and traditional dishes into vegan dishes, going on a runs or a bike rides around the city, writing, and hanging out with my mom and my sisters.

My 2022 Summer REU experience at the University of Iowa!

My Current Research:

Before graduating, my last research project was through a signature experience course in Chemical Research at Georgia State University. I had the honor to work with Dr. Chayan Dutta where I used spectroscopic techniques to quantify nanoplastics at varied interfaces/complex settings! More updates coming soon 🤗
